Igor Schneider was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on February 01, 1994, and grew up in the metropolis town of Osasco. Schneider has been overweight since he was a child. His parents encouraged him to join martial arts training to lose some pounds. At age 10, he started training in jiu-jitsu under coach Lino Cotti (Palito). Cotti was also a student under Charles Faria at Equipe Godoi Academy, whose name was later changed to G13. Schneider’s house was near the gym, so he used to bring his mother’s key with a miniature tiger as a keychain every day. One day, Igor forgot his key at the gym. When Cotti learned about it, he liked the keychain and started calling him Little Tiger. As Schneider grew up, his name changed to Big Tiger (Tigrao), which became his identity.

In 2012, Schneider decided to take his passion for jiu-jitsu to a more advanced level, so he joined Cicero Costha‘s PSLPB Academy. Carrying a tremendous record, Costha promoted Schneider to brown belt in November 2013. On his brown belt, Schneider won titles as CBJJ Brazilain Nationals in ultra-heavy and absolute divisions. After two years, he was promoted to BJJ black belt under Cicero Costha. Soon after, Schneider became a part of the new academy, New School Brotherhood, due to internal clashes between Cicero Costha and Leanardo Lo.
