Amy Campo is a BJJ Black Belt under Eduardo Mori. She is a member of Zenith BJJ. She gained fame in the Color Belt Divisions of IBJJF. She is the IBJJF Gi, No-Gi, and ADCC Champion.

Amy Campo is a very aggressive and technical BJJ fighter. She became the ADCC World Champion when she took down the former ADCC Champion and IBJJF Hall of Famer, Gabi Garcia. This is one of the remarkable fights of Amy Campo.

She actively takes part in podcasts and talks about her fighting style and her early life. She has won the IBJJF World Championship while still being a Brown Belt.

2.1. Amy Campo’s Early Life

Amy Campo was born on 30 January 2000 in Utah, United States. She grew up near Ogden, Utah in the Sunset and Riverdale cities.

Took Dancing Classes

She was interested in sports from a young age but due to financial problems she could not get into any sport professionally. Though her family was able to enroll her in dancing classes. Unfortunately, it was for a short period.

Amy’s Brother Enrolled in Martial Arts Classes

With time, her family was able to overcome some of those financial problems. Her family was able to afford her 6-year-old brother Ryder Compo’s enrollment in martial arts classes.

Started Practicing Kickboxing, MMA & BJJ

One day Amy’s father took her to watch Ryder’s martial arts classes. She was 13 years old at that time. Her father asked her if she would like to join the classes like her brother. She was already interested in Jiu-Jitsu and that’s how her BJJ journey started.

She practiced different forms of martial arts like Kickboxing and MMA along with BJJ. She practiced BJJ under Eduardo Mori. After that, she got more interested in BJJ and decided to pursue BJJ as her career.

2.2. Amy Campo’s Pro BJJ Combats

Promotion to Black Belt

Amy received her Purple and Brown Belts from her coach Eduardo Mori. She was awarded the Black Belt by coach Eduardo Mori when she secured 1st place in the IBJJF World Championship in 2021. She earned double gold in the tournament held on 15 December 2021.

IBJJF World Champion

She earned first place in the IBJJF World Championship in 2021 while being a Brown Belt.

IBJJF No-Gi Champion

She got the title of IBJJF No-Gi Champion in 2018 while being a Purple Belt.

IBJJF Salt Lake City International Open Champion

She was the IBJJF Salt Lake City International Open Champion in 2022.

The Chewjitsu Podcast

Amy talked about her early life and how she got into BJJ. She was an enthusiastic child and wanted to learn new things. So, when her father enrolled her in the BJJ classes, she started showing interest in it from the very first day.

She also talked about the differences between rolling with men in the gym and fighting with women in the match. She said that women tend to use more techniques and gameplay techniques.

The Mayn Idea Podcast

In this podcast, Amy talked about her training. She said that training hard is not very realistic. Even in the hard training sessions, there are moments when it goes a little slow. It is because normal training is not an option at Zenith. So hard training can be replaced with good speed and agility. In this way, the fighter can balance his hard training.

She explained about her earlier defeat in the ADCC. She said that she learned a lot from that. And only because of that she was able to defeat Gabi Gracia in the next fight.
