Rafaela Guedes Has Been Promoted to 1st Degree BJJ Black Belt

Rafaela Guedes has been recently promoted to 1st degree BJJ black belt in the ATOS grading ceremony by her coach and affiliation’s originator, Andre Galvao. Read more about this BJJ news.


Rafaela Guedes is a BJJ black belt under Andre Galvao who is a 4th-Degree BJJ Black Belt. She was promoted to 1st-degree BJJ black belt by the founder of ATOS , Andre Galvao, on 18th December 2023.


Guedes is a rising star in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and represents Atos jiu-jitsu academy. Before reaching the black belt level, she won many tournaments including the IBJJF World Championship.

Rafaela's journey into the world of Jiu-Jitsu began when she joined jiu-jitsu to lose weight and gain confidence. She decided to pursue it further by joining Daílson Pinheiro's BJJ academy, where she received her blue belt.


In 2019 Guedes joined the ATOS, shortly after winning the IBJJF World Championship at brown belt, she was promoted to black belt in September 2020 by Andre Galvao, after becoming one of the top fighters in her first year. 

At the historic event of Fight2Win162 in Miami, Florida, in 2021, she won a medal by defeating world champion Ana Carolina Vieira In 2021, Guedes also won other significant titles in Jiu-Jitsu. She won two gold medals at the IBJJF No Gi World Championship, beating female fighters in both the heavyweight and the absolute division. She also competed in the heavyweight division at the Who’s Number One Championships and stood first after knocking three of the strongest grapplers. In 2022, Guedes won a silver medal in the ADCC World Championship

Rafaela Guedes is currently 3X IBJJF World Champion and 4X IBJJF Pan Champion and looking for a new challenge nowadays as she recently disclosed that she has been working towards making her debut in MMA fights. Hopefully, in 2024, she will be seen in the MMA circuit.
