Mark Zuckerberg’s BJJ Blue Belt Promotion

Mark Zuckerberg’s BJJ Blue Belt Promotion

The founder of Facebook and the Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been recently promoted to BJJ blue belt. Zuckerberg has been competing in both Gi and No-Gi tournaments and won gold medals. It is no surprise that Zuckerberg has been promoted to blue belt. In fact, in no time he will gain his black belt.

Initially, Mark Zuckerberg trained with Dave Camarillo, the founder of Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu. Over the course of his training, Zuckerberg has learned many skills from Camarillo. Recently, Zuckerberg has also begun training with BJJ world champion, Mikey Musumeci. Earlier this year, Zuckerberg competed at the BJJ Silicon Valley tour tournament and won a silver medal. On the day of Zuckerberg’s promotion, his coach Camarillo was promoted to 5th-degree black belt. Zuckerberg congratulated Camarillo on his Instagram.

“Congrats on your 5th-degree black belt. You're a great coach and I've learned so much about fighting and life from training with you. Also honored to be promoted to compete at the blue belt for Guerrilla BJJ San Jose team.”

Zuckerberg started jiu-jitsu training but decided to compete when he fell in love with the sport. In Joe Rogan’s podcast, Zuckerberg talked about the influence BJJ has left on him. According to Zuckerberg, BJJ makes him ready for the daily challenges and he becomes steady to combat all the problems at work because of his rigorous training.

“It is a great sport. The question isn’t how did I get into it, it’s how did I not know about it until right now? From, like, the very first session that I did, like, five minutes in where has this been my whole life?”

Zuckerberg calls BJJ “primal”.
