There has been a sudden surge in the BJJ community in recent years. It is one of the most trending martial arts these days. People from all over the world have been training in BJJ. Hollywood actors such as Tom Hardy and Dave Bautista, have been training hard in BJJ. Tom Hardy has been competing in BJJ competitions where he recently won a gold medal. The CEO of meta platforms, Mark Zuckerberg won a gold and silver medal in BJJ competitions in May 2023 at the BJJ Tour Silicon Valley. Not only does Zuckerberg train in BJJ, but also the owner and founder of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, Elon Musk trains in BJJ.
Recently, Elon Musk tweeted “up for a cage fight”, to which Zuckerberg replied, “send me location”. Musk then said, “Vegas Octagon. I have this great move I call ‘The Walrus’, where I just lie on top of my opponent and do nothing.” Since then it is in the talks that whether two entrepreneurs would compete or not. The UFC President, Dana White, disclosed that both entrepreneurs have talked with UFC showing their interest in an MMA match. Both entrepreneurs have been training with top notch coaches to enhance their grappling skills. Elon Musk trains with the 6th-degree BJJ black belt, John Danaher whereas Zukerberg trains with the multiple times IBJJF World Champion, Mikey Musumeci and MIT researcher and podcastor, Lex Freidman. Friedman is a multi-tasker. He is not only a BJJ black belt but also a podcastor and American based computer scientist from MIT. Apart from BJJ, Zuckerberg has also been training in MMA for the last 18 months.
Musk posted a picture on his instagram with Danaher, George St-Pierre and black belt podcaster, Friedman.
Zuckerberg posted a video on his instagram where he trained with Musumeci.
It might be possible that there would be a clash worth watching between two billionaires at UFC. It is definitely wonderful news that the Italian Ministry of Culture has offered Zuckerberg and Musk an opportunity to compete at the Colosseum.
I did an impromptu training session with @elonmusk for a few hours yesterday. I'm extremely impressed with his strength, power, and skill, on the feet and on the ground. It was epic. It's really inspiring to see Elon and Mark doing martial arts, but I think the world is served… pic.twitter.com/cq00A9Xnmw
