2. Gabrielle McComb’s Biography
Gabrielle McComb Lima is an energetic submission grappler from Brazil. She is a black belt in BJJ under her coaches, Letícia Ribeiro and Fabrício Camões. McComb is one of the preeminent fighters, representing the female team of Gracie Humaita. She has competed in both Gi and NoGi tournaments. So far in her BJJ career, McComb has achieved high-ranked titles by winning IBJJF World Jiu-Jitsu Gi and NoGi and Pan American Gi and NoGi championships multiple times, justifying her excellent Jiu-Jitsu skills.
2.1. Gabrielle McComb’s Early Life
On 3rd October 1997, Gabrielle McComb Lima was born in Manaus, Brazil. At the age of eight, McComb's interest in BJJ developed as she watched her elder sister, Andrea McComb, practice Jiu-Jitsu under her coach, Alberto Valle. She then joined the training immediately and was trained by her sister. McComb fought at local and national tournaments until she was 15, preparing for international Jiu-Jitsu competitions.
During one of her local grappling tournaments, she met Paulo Gabriel Martins, a passionate Jiu-Jitsu, and later, they became lovers and got married, together representing the Gracie Humaita Team.
2.2. Gabrielle McComb’s BJJ Journey
Gabrielle McComb was promoted to a blue belt as a teenager. At Blue Belt, she won many juvenile world championships, building her level in the BJJ world. This success increases her desire to become a top-class fighter. She doubled her training and finally got promoted to a purple belt by her sister Andrea. As a purple belt, she won a gold medal in IBJJF South American Championship in 2015. In 2016, she won a double gold medal in the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals, IBJJF World, and IBJJF Pans Championships, competing with top female grapplers. After winning multiple matches, McComb and her partner Paulo Gabriel moved to the US. They started training at the Gracie Humaita South Bay Academy under coach Leticia Ribeiro and her husband, Fabrício Morango.
In 2017, she got promoted to brown belt, securing gold again in the IBJJF World No-Gi and Pans American Championships. After one year 2018, her coaches promoted her to black belt. Since she got promoted, she has won gold and silver medals in the top BJJ tournaments. In 2021, she left Gracie Humaita and started training at ATOS Academy under Andre Galvao.
2.3. Gabrielle McComb’s Top Achievements in BJJ
Gabrielle McComb has become the best BJJ black belt featherweight world champion. She is a multiple-time winner of IBJJF World Gi and NoGi, Pans American Gi and No Gi Championships, IBJJ American Nationals, CBJJ Brazilian Nationals, and UAEJJF Grand Slam, LA, in both featherweight and absolute divisions. In 2023, she won a gold and silver medal in the World No-Gi Championship Open class.

“My whole life belongs to Jiu-Jitsu; I now teach and compete in BJJ and will do that for the rest of my life. I plan to own a gym and also join MMA. I won’t be competing in Gi competitions; instead, I focus on MMA or No-Gi competitions in the coming year”.

In the 2023 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship, a tremendous match occurred between Gabrielle McComb and Ffion Davies. It was the tournament's final match; both fighters fought aggressively using headlock positions. McComb tried for submission by Kimura, but Davies made a comeback, choking her opponent from behind, winning the match by RNC, and was awarded a gold medal.
