Luiza Monteiro is a BJJ Black Belt whose success and achievements started with the PSLPB. Monteiro became famous after her black belt winning streak in 2010. She established herself as the top athlete in BJJ and won several titles in different weight classes.
2.2 Early life and BJJ Career
Luiza was born on 23 November 1988, in Salvador, a famous city in Brazil. She spent her early childhood in Niteroi, a state of Rio de Janeiro. Luiza started Thai boxing training when she was twelve years old. In her early teens, Monteiro tried her hand at BJJ after the suggestion of some classmates. Soon after that, she fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu and decided to enroll in a professional BJJ gym. She practiced jiu-jitsu under the supervision of Junior Duarte, a great BJJ fighter and coach. Later, Junior Duarte awarded her the Blue Belt.
Luiza Monteiro was following multiple training principles with Thai boxing. She got training from several coaches including Fabricio Bicudo, Mederios, Lucas Leite, Leo Viera, and Rodrigo Cava but the most prominent of them was “Brasa”.
2.3 Journey To Black Belt
She was awarded a black belt in December 2010, when she secured multiple brown belts wins in events like World Championship and Pan American Championship.
2.4. Luiza joined the PSLPB
In 2010, Luiza Monteiro participated in the PSLPB team. This experience contributed a lot to her BJJ skills and techniques and helped her to win several gold medals.
2.5. Luiza Training with BJJ Academy in New York City
She had hand-in gloves with the best BJJ Academy in New York in 2014. Luiza Monteiro was offered membership in the Coach's roster. Luiza joined and provided coaching for approximately four months but chose to return because she wanted to train by the side of her coach, Mentor Ciero. Her training with these academies proved beneficial when she participated in the Brasileiro Nationals as well as the 20th World Championship.
2.6. Moved to San Diego
Liza decided to migrate to California, in 2018, and then joined local Atos, a very famous academy, led by Angelica Galvao and her husband Andre.

Luiza had a nail-biting fight with Claudia Doval, she was a BJJ Black Belt and also had a judo background. In the initial moments, Luiza tried the triangle leg attack but Cloudia managed to survive. Luiza applied the pressure via her foot on her bicep, but Cloudia managed to escape the position. Luiza tried to regain the advantageous position but Claudia gave her a tough time. Luiza also attempted the neck triangle but Claudia managed to defend. Finally, Luiza secured more points which were 6 against 1, which resulted in Luiza's victory.

Luiza Monteiro Vs Andressa Cintra/ Pan Championship 2021
It was a great fightbetween Andressa Cintra and Luiza. At the start of the bout, Luiza tried to apply the rear naked choke but Cintra escaped. Secondly, they were stuck in a half-guard position for a few moments. Luiza struggled to open the leg lock and managed to free herself and soon after that she passed the guard and secured 3 points for that.

It was a challenging match between Luiza and Monique Elias in the medium heavyweight category of Pan Championship. Luiza proved herself one of the best grapplers in the fight.
