UFC’s Bantamweight Fighter, Marlon Vera, Started BJJ Training with Cole Abate

BJJ is the most trending and gravitating form of martial arts. Recently, there has been a sudden surge of UFC and MMA veterans in BJJ. Not only do partitioners from other fighting disciplines have been training in BJJ, but also Hollywood actors such as Tom Hardy and Dave Bautista have been seen learning BJJ techniques. Even the CEO of Meta and founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has been competing in Gi and No-Gi BJJ competitions.

The UFC contender, Marlon Andres Vera Delgado, who is a BJJ black belt is now training hard in BJJ for his upcoming UFC fight. Vera is ranked number six on UFC’s Bantamweight rankings. Vera is getting ready for his UFC fight against Henry Cejudo on August 19, 2023, at UFC 292 in Boston. Vera is training with Cole Abate, the brown-belt American submission grappler. Vera has joined Art of Jiu-Jitsu (AOJ) specifically to sharpen his grappling skills.

Vera has an MMA record of 20-8-1. He has won eight fights via submission and has a zero submission fight loss record. Vera has won multiple “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” honors. Abate is an excellent grappler which is why he is the best practitioner Vera can train with. Abate became the 2022 IBJJF World Champion as a purple belt. He even won the 2023 IBJJF European Championship as a brown belt. Even as a brown belt, Abate has been giving tough competition to the black belts.

Both Vera and Cajudo lost their last UFC fight, which means that this would be the ultimate clash for victory.

“I fell but I got up the first time, how flowers get up in spring. August 19 will see me with my hand on high.”

Cole Abate disclosed the news of training Vera on his Instagram and wished success to the UFC veteran.

“Helping the future champ in his preparation for his upcoming UFC fight against Henry Cejudo. Solid training, Marlon Vera - Road to the title.”
