Marlon Chito Vera on Frankie Edgar’s Viral KO Photo: "It's Disrespectful"

In a matter of a few days, the viral knockout photo of the former Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar has become one of the most shared contents on the internet. The knockout delivered by Marlon “Chito” Vera via a kick to the chin happened in the third and final round of the fight that lasted 3 minutes and 50 seconds in the UFC 268.

The fight involved trash talk in pre-fight conferences as well as inside the cage, with Chito Vera flipping the former legend off which he later said was part of the mind games they were playing with each other in the cage. Chito said Frankie gave him a tough look and he instantly reacted with the middle finger, however, he also later said that he respects the hell out of the legend.

On Twitter, Shaheel Al-Shatti has posted that Marlon Vera has told @arielhelwani that it’d be very disrespectful if he posted the picture himself. One of the 6 UFC 268 Fight Bonus winners, Chito further said that he’s always respected Frankie Edgar as “He’s a bad motherfucker. He’s a real one.”

The picture, according to Chito is not something he lives for and not something he’s even interested in seeing over and over. Chiro says he hasn’t replied to anyone tagging him in a post of the image on social platforms as well. He said we’re all fighters that come in the ring because we need to put food on the table for our families. And that’s what we both were doing. If it was a picture of himself, Chito said he wouldn’t care about it. He’d just move on and set his mind on the next fight, just like he’s doing right now.
