Youtuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul, declared his time off from boxing to promote Amanda Serrano in a battle against Katie Taylor for the undisputed lightweight title.
Jake Paul brutally knocked out UFC champion Tyron Woodley last Saturday. Following that, Paul remains unbeaten with a (5-0, 4 KOs) professional boxing score.
The YouTube star will take a seven-month break from the ring to promote Amanda Serrano for an undisputed lightweight title bout with Katie Taylor.
Earlier this year, Paul signed Serrano as one of his most valuable promotions, and apparently, he could play a big role in making one of the biggest fights in women’s boxing history.
The 24-year-old will take his time off from the ring to spend most of early 2022 promoting the fight, which will be co-promoted with Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn.
Paul says that promoting Serrano is a ‘massive achievement.’
“She’s put in thousands and hundreds of hours in the gym and she deserves the payday that she’s going to get,” said Paul on his older brother Logan’s impulsive podcast.
“She deserves to be able to retire from boxing and not work again.”
“That hasn’t been the case for women’s boxing, they’ve been underpaid and taken advantage of.”
“It’s an amazing accomplishment for me to be able to help her, and she’s such an awesome person.”
Although Jake Paul won’t be competing for at least the first half of 2022, former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has been mentioned as a possible opponent for Paul when he decides to return to the ring.
