2. Biography of Ingridd Alves

2.1. Early Life

Ingridd Alves was born into a military family on 29th January 1995. The life journey of this formidable grappler started in the capital of Brazil, Teresina. She spent her childhood enjoying the country tours with her father. The frequent migration from place to place contributed in adopting several sports during her teens. She took full advantage of this situation and remained active and played several sports at the competitive level. However, her achievements showed her affection for volleyball.

2.2. Struggled to Lose Weight

In her adulthood, Alves frequently found herself slipping into a sedentary lifestyle. She gained over 100 kg weight within months. This drastic change triggered insecurities and led her to low self-esteem.


Ingridd Alves grappled with a challenging emotional and mental toll. Being a confident sports girl from her childhood, she decided to tackle this situation and reclaim her self-worth by adopting rigorous and intensive martial art training.

2.3. Joined Jiu-Jitsu School

In the year 2014, Alves made a timely decision that later proved the life-changing decision to enroll in Jiu-Jitsu classes. She started to attend the Jiu-Jitsu classes organized by the military club.


From the very beginning of her training, she enjoyed grappling and the intricacies of the gr appling sport. The interesting techniques of Jiu-Jitsu inspired her soul and motivated her to push herself further.

2.4. Fell in Love With Jiu-Jitsu

Ingridd Alves initially adopted Jiu-Jitsu as a means to maintain her physical health through intensive grappling training. After just a few months of practice, she achieved her goal of reducing weight.


However, the vibrant nature of this martial art inspired her beyond her physical fitness goals. Ingridd Alves fell in love with the vibrant nature of Jiu-Jitsu. She found herself drawn to the mental and emotional benefits of BJJ as well. The grappling sport overcame her mental and health challenges and relished the opportunity to continually push herself further.

2.5. Dedicated BJJ Training

Alves' devotion and immense love for Jiu-Jitsu became the stepping stone that transformed her into a formidable fighter of the sport. She trained tirelessly on the mat, and in a short span, her dedication, consistency, and commitment to achieving her goals paid off. She competed in several national and international tournaments and quickly rose to higher belt ranks.


Her drive to excellence, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the sport propelled her to new heights in her professional career.

2.6. Joined the Coaching of Edilson Albuquerque

Ingridd Alves joined the coaching gym of Edilson Albuquerque to hone her grappling skills. She had the dream to sparkle as a most formidable Brazilian fighter. However, Edilson’s gym affiliations with renowned academies proved an advantage in Alves’s professional career. She got the chance to train under the proficient coaching of Eduardo Cunha and many big names in the grappling world.

2.7. Ingridd Alves Inspiration to Join BJJ

In addition to achieving her health goals through grappling training in Jiu-Jitsu. ingridd was greatly inspired by the teaching method and technical skills of the Mendes brothers. She credits their instructive videos with the development of her Jiu-Jitsu career.

2.8. Joined Guigo Academy

In the beginning of 2021, Ingridd moved to São Paulo and joined the renowned Guigo Jiu-Jitsu Academy. This move marked a new chapter in her BJJ training journey that offered her fresh challenges and opportunities for growth.

2.9. ADCC World Champion 2021

Ingridd Alves won the ADDC World Championship  of 2021 that was organized by the prestigious UAEJJF . She explained the intertwining feelings of pride and joy as:

“It is the most expressive title of the UAEJJF, the federation that most values our martial art, to the point of calling the holders of the title "heroes". I really believe that I am a hero, not because I have special powers, but because I overcome exhaustion, pain, fears, and my own limits, even if it spills blood, sweat, and tears.”

3.1. Ingridd Alves Vs. Juliana Araujo

This was an epic showdown that rocked the 2021 Brasileiro Pro Championship. In one of the most anticipated fights of the year, the fierce and determined Ingridd Alves went toe-to-toe with the formidable Juliana Araujo in a nail-biting semi-final bout.


Right from the start, Juliana came out swinging with a powerful leg grip on her opponent, but Ingridd was quick to counter and escape her hold. In a stunning display of skill and strength, ingridd then took control of the match, getting Juliana into a powerful grip of the close guard and maintaining a dominant position.


Despite Juliana's best efforts to break the stronghold of her opponent, Ingridd was relentless in her pursuit of victory, expertly nullifying every escape attempt and maintaining her unbreakable grip for almost three minutes on the mat.


The match became more intense when Ingridd pulled off a jaw-dropping transition from guard to triangle choke that left Juliana gasping for air. Ingridd’s powerful grip tightening left no escaping space, and Juliana was forced to tap out.

3.2. Ingridd Alves Vs. Mayara Mattos

This was an unforgettable semi-final match of the Sul Americano Championship 2021. This open-weight podium witnessed fierce competition between two of the most formidable grapplers of the BJJ - the unstoppable Ingridd Alves and the highly skilled Mayara Mattos.


As soon as the match began, both athletes were determined to maintain their dominant position on the mat. Ingridd started off a strong close-guard attempt, but Mayara proved her elite grappling skills by effortlessly sweeping her opponent. However, Ingridd was quick to react and took advantage of Mayara's momentary lapse in balance by tightening her grip around her neck.


Ingridd’s move led her opponent struggling to maintain her balance, Ingridd cashed the opportunity and swiftly transitioned to a back mount position. Ingridd locked Mayara Mattos in a deadly Rare Naked Choke, leaving Mayara with no choice but to submit.
