2. Danilo Moreira’s Biography

Danilo Moreira is a popular jiu-jitsu black belt with exceptional grappling skills. He got his training under Luiz “Majorzão” Oliveira, who also worked with Danilo’s father, Marcelo Carvalho Moreira, and other BJJ black belts including Samir Chantre and Osvaldo Moizinho.

2.1. Early Years of Danilo's Life

Moreiro got his initial jiu-jitsu training in Parnaiba and gained an understanding of the basic BJJ principles. At that time, he was just 8 years old, but he had a deeper interest in jiu-jitsu competitions.

2.2. Danilo Signed up for Jiu-Jitsu Classes

His father, Marcelo Carvalho Moreira, had a firm belief that if the parents are employed, then children should also invest their time significantly by doing various activities. If they remain unoccupied then no positive outcome can be generated. This belief urged him to decide that he had to sign Moreira for jiu-jitsu classes at Ariel Soares Teles’ gym (Delta Gold Team).

2.3. Danilo’s Black Belt Achievement

He competed in various levels of colored belt divisions of the sport. During his International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), he won the black belt as he got success in multiple International events.

2.4. Moreira’s Project (PSQGL)

At DGT, Moreira was trained for approximately two years. Then he moved from his hometown and joined a social project named Projeto Social Quartel General da Luta (PSQGL). This project is a workgroup specifically led by Luiz Majorzão. Throughout his journey in jiu-jitsu, he had to face various complexities but his father strongly supported him. In the meantime, his father also became a BJJ black belt.

2.5. Touring as an Ares Jiu-Jitsu Academy Competitor

In the international jiu-jitsu circuit, the status of PSQGL was not sufficient, so Danilo represented several different teams. He traveled the entire world and participated in various competitions across North America and Europe.

As the connection of Danilo Moreira among Ares and his local team was strengthened, he initiated tourism as an Ares Jiu-Jitsu Academy competitor.

2.6. Moreira’s Promotion to Black Belt

The 20 July 2019 marked a  promising day for Danilo Moreira as his coach Luiz Majorzão promoted his rank to black belt.  Due to sickness, his father was unable to co-host the ceremony although all those moments were priceless for them.

2.7. Danilo’s First Gold Medal

Then two weeks later, he got another incredible achievement in the IBJJF Floripa Winter Open. On that memorable day, he got his first gold medal as a black belt.

2.8. Danilo’s Personal Life

In August 2023, Danilo Moreira tied the knot with Elizabeth Clay who is also a professional BJJ athlete.

3. Danilo Moreira’s Historic Fights

3.1. Danilo Moreira vs. Daniel Diniz

In Santa Cruz Open 2022, Danilo Moreira competed against Daniel Diniz. Throughout the entire fight, Daniel Diniz was in the guard position and he tried hard to employ the submission techniques. But Danilo Moreira successfully resisted him and got an escape. Based on the referee's decision, he was announced as the winner.

3.2. Fabricio Andrey vs. Danilo Moreira

In 2021, Fabricio Andrey faced  Danilo Moreira in the IBJJF Pan Championship. In the initial 7:48 minutes, Danilo Moreira earned 2 points. Then in the next few minutes, Danilo Moreira exhibited the innovative sweeping positions. Fabricio Andrey had a super beautiful control on Moreiro’s hips with his turtle control. He also set some cross-collar chokes with his right hand and imparted pressure on Danilo. Ultimately Danilo Moreira lost the fight due to the cross collar choke technique applied by Fabricio Andrey.

3.3. Danilo Moreira vs. Silvio Duran

At the Miami Open 2021, a thrilling battle was performed in which Danilo Moreira fought against Silvio Duran. Moreira was announced as the winner based on the earned points.
