2. Daniel Sathler Biography
Professional BJJ grappler Daniel Sathler Campos is a Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu under André Galvao. During his swift top-of-the-sport ascent, Galvao worked closely with him and prepared him for future endeavors. Daniel is considered among the top rising stars of BJJ. Coach Galvao has previously trained elite grapplers and also worked closely with other trainers like Angelica Galvao, Denis Machado, and Julio César Pereira.
As a Blue, Purple, and Brown Belt who has now been upgraded to Black Belt, Daniel won three World Championship Titles. Daniel is still in the early stages of building his legacy as an elite BJJ athlete. Daniel received his Blue, Purple, and Brown Belts from coach, Galvao.
2.1. Daniel Sathler’s Early Life
Athletic Childhood
Born on January 19, 2001, in Bairro do Rocha, Daniel Sathler’s family moved to the Morro do Urubu slum in the Abolição district when he was 2 years old.
Entering the Word of BJJ
Sathler went back to Rocha town when he was 7 years old. The young "Sathler" joined an extracurricular activity since his parents were working insane hours and voiced worries that Daniel's free time would be spent on the streets where crimes were a regular problem.
His father, a lover of jiu-jitsu and A cage fighter made the decision to enroll him in BJJ training to tackle the problem.
Joined Denis Machado’s BJJ Family
In 2008, at the start of his amateur BJJ career, Daniel decided to join Denis Machado’s Academy; Brazilian Fight Club in Club Magnatas do Rocha. A decision that proved extremely fruitful for the building of his strong BJJ foundations.
Daniel progressed under the guidelines of Machado, who, at that time, held Black Belts in BJJ and Luta Livre. This guidance and professional training gave Daniel the confidence to compete in National and International competitions.
Juvenile Belts
After joining Machado’s Academy, Daniel earned all the Juvenile belts (green, orange, yellow, and gray) under Machado’s guidance.
Joined GF Team
Daniel joined GF Team’s headquarters for further development of his skills as a professional grappler after completing and winning in Juvenile Belts. Eventually, as a result of his victories in the Pan-American, and European Championships, he earned his Blue and Purple Belts and emerged as a hot prospect.
Daniel Sathler’s Adherence to GF Team
He enjoyed training at GF Team because Patrick and Jaime are very helpful to him at GF Headquarters. They inspire him, teach him skills, and serve as examples. He admires Leandro Lo for his fierce fighting style and passion for the game.
Daniel says,
"I started training here as a green belt after I met Julio. I was scared when I first came here because the training was so tough, but Julio helped me feel comfortable and gave me confidence."
Joined Atos Headquarter Academy
Knowing that the center of the sport had moved to the United States and participating in the North American Circuit would be ideal for the development of his future BJJ plans, Daniel decided to join Atos Headquarters Academy in San Diego, California. In order to join the team's professional squad, The young Brazilian went to the Northern Hemisphere at the age of 18 after being invited to join the squad by André and Angelica Galvo.
2.2. Daniel Sathler’s Pro BJJ Combat
Earning Brown and Black Belt
Daniel Sathler earned his Brown and then finally BJJ Black Belt with Team Atos. His Black Belt promotion occured on June 21, 2022. With the team, he continued to improve and conquer the best sports competitions.

Daniel Sathler vs Ismael Santos
The young BJJ stars, Daniel Sathler and Ismael Santos faced each other in the 2021 World Championship Quarterfinals. Both fighters fought relentlessly showing their best grappling skills.
The rising BJJ star, Daniel won the match by holding a strong grip over Ismael’s toe and secured the win by Ankle Lock Submission.

Daniel Sathler vs JD Speck
Daniel Sathler, a Purple Belt, came across JD Speck, a Brown Belt at Royal III. At the start of the fight, hostile Daniel attempted an armbar. JD escaped from the armbar by showing excellent defensive mechanisms.
In the next moment of the fight, JD Speck tried to attempt a toe hold but couldn’t. Daniel showed amazing agility, held him in a half-guard position, and applied an invincible half-guard triangle choke forcing him to tap out.
