2. Charles Negromonte’s Biography
Charles Negromonte is a black belt under Ze Radio la. He has won medals in many international competitions. He also had a great experience in Gi and NoGi competitions. Negromonte had a keen interest in football, but that was only until he learned about BJJ.
Negromonte earned a great reputation because of his splendor in fight history. He is also known as one of the best medium-heavyweight submission grapplers of his era.
2.1. Charles Negromonte’s Early Life
Charles Negromonte was born in Recife, on September 29, 1988. He spent his entire childhood in Paulista a town in Pernambuco, Brazil.
Negromonte as a kid was interested in football and he spent years competing in this game. Though he spent a few months training in judo his instincts never clicked for martial arts.
2.2. BJJ Training
Charles Negromonte was never interested in BJJ as a kid. He got his first exposure to fighting at age 6 when he started his judo training but didn't grasp interest.
In 2005, he saw his brother Orlando who used to practice BJJ in a nearby academy, Negromonte decided to join BJJ.
2.3. Ze Radiola’s team
Charles Negromonte after completing his education in high school decided to turn his life permanently towards BJJ and to make a living from the sport.
He remained with his first academy and very soon became a brown belt. Negromonte wanted to grow and make his name in the field of BJJ, and for that, he needed an academy with tough competitors and a dedicated trainer.
For such reasons, he had to leave his academy and join Ze Radiola’s team, which was one of the best BJJ training schools in the world. They used to train hard as a team of professionals.
2.4. Copacabana Academy
At the Gracie Barra Academy, Charles Negromonte began teaching classes to fund his tuition. After this, he went to Copacabana Academy in Poland and got his first ever international Jiu-Jitsu training for 3 months.
Later after his experience in Poland, he went to England to train under Braulio and Victor Estima.
2.5. Charles Negromonte’s Black Belt Journey
After winning the brown belt at such an early age Negromonte’s career started to fall off. He used to make it to the international fights but never won any of them.
Finally on July 1st, 2012 after making it to the finals and semi-finals several times in brown belt. Charles Negromonte was promoted to black belt.
2.6. Roger Gracie Academy
Charles Negromonte went back to the UK after being promoted, and there he met the legendary guard player Roger Gracie.
After spending years under Radiola and creating a strong fellowship with Gracie, Roger Gracie offered to join Roger Gracie Academy. He accepted the proposal under the allowance of Radiola and Braulio Estima.
2.7. Championship Moments
After becoming a black belt Negromonte overcomes his bad luck as a brown belt by winning some major tournament titles that include the South American Championship and the European No-Gi Open.
Charles Negromonte had also competed in the ADCC trial in 2022, having 2-1.
2.8. Charles Negromonte’s Best Fight
Charles Negromonte is one of the most famous names in the grappling world and it is tough to pin his any one achievement, but when it comes to the best fight of Negromonte, it was the finals of the European Open in 2016. He won the match with an inverted triangle.
2.9. Charles Negromonte as an Instructor
Negromonte taught at Roger Gracie’s Academy. He had an experience of more than 2 years in teaching.
Negromonte is an efficient and humble teacher with a positive attitude toward teaching and his students. He as a teacher is very understanding and lean towards his students.

Andre Galvao wrapped his right leg around Charles Negromonte and waited for back control. Galvao then locked the arm of Negromonte. Negromonte did very well by controlling his sleeves to pass the legs around him. Negromonte then puts a close guard and can win the match if he keeps the guard in 30 seconds and passes Andre Galvao.
He keeps his legs grabbed so that he can't score and win the match.
