ONE Fight Night 12 was conducted at the most historic stadium in Thailand, Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok. The championship took place on July 14, 2023, with a majority of knockout wins in the history of ONE Championship. The tournament was an amalgam of MMA, Muay Thai, grappling, and kickboxing bouts.
The tournament consisted of nine bouts in which the main card was Superlek Kiatmoo9 Vs. Tagir Khalilov. The two times Muay Thai World Champion Kiatmoo9, aka the kicking machine, knocked out Kahlilov in the second round. And with this victory, Kiatmoo9 remains undefeated in ONE Championship. In the MMA featherweight bout, Garry Tonon, five times Eddie Bravo Invitational Champion, defeated Shamil Gasanov via kneebar submission in the second round of the fight.
Amir Aliakbari dominated in the MMA heavyweight bout, an Iranian MMA fighter signed to ONE Championship, against Dustin Joynson via TKO submission to punches in the first round. In the MMA catchweight bout, Yuya Wakamatsu knocked out Xie Wei in the first round. Wei is a ONE Hero and ONE Warrior series fighter and his opponent, Wakamatsu is the Pancrase Flyweight Tournament Champion. In the grappling strawweight bout, Tammi Musumeci defeated Amanda Alequin via unanimous decision. Musumeci is the first American BJJ black belt who currently competes in ONE Championship with a record of 2-0 in ONE. Her opponent Alequin is an Ecuadorian-American who competes in the strawweight submission grappling division of the ONE Championship.
In the MMA featherweight division, Akbar Abdullaev defeated Aaron Canarte via knockout in the first round. Canarte is not only adept in MMA but also in grappling and Muay Thai. Abdullaev is an undefeated champion with an MMA record of 8-0.
ONE Interim Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion, Lara Fernandez lost the atomweight Muay Thai bout to Phetjeeja via knockout. Phetjeeja has consecutively won three fights in a row in ONE. Fernandez lost her title in the bout and is preparing hard to overcome her recent loss.
