2. Erich Munis Biography

2.1. Erich Munis Early Life

The rising star of grappling, Erich Munis was born on 19 December 1997 in the city of Sao Paulo-Panorama, Brazil.

2.2. Erich’s Interest in Jiu-Jitsu

While Growing up, Erich's father being a Jiu-Jitsu practitioner had a significant influence on him, and it was he who fostered the love for athleticism and martial arts in the young Munis. Erich developed a deep interest in Jiu-Jitsu despite the fact that combat sports were uncommon in Panorama.

2.3. Joined Reca Team

The year 2013 proved to be a big success for the reputation of the panorama. The Reca team introduced Jiu-Jitsu in the city of Sao Paulo-Panorama. Erich, along with his elder brother Anderson, joined the gym. The two siblings began their training with Raça.

2.4. Joined Clube Feijao (CF)

Erich’s elder brother Alex and his father practiced at the well-known academy of Brazil- Clube Feijao which was renowned for training and preparing extraordinary champions. Munis’ brothers planned to apply for a scholarship in the headquarters of Clube Feijao that was accepted by officials. This was the point, Munis’s brothers decided to pursue Jiu-Jitsu as their career. Alex and Anderson joined hands with Clube Feijao. However, Erich joined them a year later because of his high school schedule. Munis’ brothers joined Clube Feijao as Blue Belt.

2.5. Awarded Purple Belt

Under Rodrigo Feijo's coaching at CF, the Munis brothers secured the highest place in combat sports. Erich and his brother earned Purple Belts at CF.

2.6. Financial Struggles  

Erich and his brothers performed well on mats but they are not financially strong. They carry out different campaigns on social media for attracting endorsements. At that time, Isaque Bahiense, who was the owner of the Dream Art project, connected Munis’ brothers for support.

2.7. Joined Dream Art

Erich Munis accepted Isaque’s offer and joined his academy. Dream Art center becomes a place to level up the skills and uplift the Jiu-Jitsu career of small town native-Erich Munis. He won double Gold at the World Championships in 2019 and 2020.

2.8. Awarded Black Belt

The outstanding performance in international competitions made him recognized as the best BJJ grappler. He was awarded the Black Belt on 28 September 2020 by Isaque Bahiense and Gabriel Figueiro in recognition of his remarkable victories in BJJ. After getting his black belt, Erich won AJP Adu Dhabi World Pro Championship 2021 and 2022 IBJJF Pan Championships.

2.9 Erich Advised to His Followers

Erich advised his fellows in an interview,

2.10. Course By Erich Munis

Erich offered a course on the single leg techniques, where fighters can learn the unique tips to control, and grip opponents.

3. Historic Fights of Erich Munis

Erich Munis Vs. Wilson Almeida

This was the Quarter-Final of the 2022 IBJJF Pan Championship. This super heavyweight tournament was held between one of the front runners, Erich Munis, and Wilson Almeida.

At the start of the fight, Wilson applied a Guard that was formidable to Erich. At the very next moment, Erich attempted a strong spider guard using Gi fabric that proved to be powerful.

Erich won the match by Armbar submission at the end.

Erich Munis Vs. Roosevelt Sousa

The semi-final of the 2022 IBJJF World Championship was held in July. This was a worth-watching open class match between fantastic guard players, Roosevelt Sousa and Erich Munis.

The match started with the double guard. After 1 minute, Erich attempted a powerful foot lock that was hard to escape his Sousa. Roosevelt and Erich used their high-level grappling skills to win the match. The match seemed to be tied as the last minute of the fight was about to end.

However, in the last 15 seconds, Erich Munis won the match by the last minute's earned advantage.
