Dominick Cruz Regrets Not What He Said, But Where He Said It

Dominick Cruz, in an interview with Ariel Hawani, said, “I don’t regret what I said. I spoke from my heart. I wasn’t mean. I regret where I said it. Maybe I shouldn’t have said it there. Because that allowed the media to take it and do whatever they wanted with it.”

Daniel ‘DC’ Cormier, a two-time world champion turned commentator and analyst, has recently come under a lot of fire from fighters like Sean O’Malley called him out for not doing his job right.

Dominick Cruz, earlier in the week, said that “When it comes to DC, I usually mute it. I love DC, he’s my friend but to me, from my experience, he doesn’t do his homework. He wants to go in and out and get the job done. Make his money. And I think that he cares about us but it’s just different. He just doesn’t do the preparation from my experience. He might now. I’m hoping he watches the film this time. On me, so that he knows what I’m doing and why I’m doing it.”

As per Sean, “I’ve always felt like ‘DC’ wants me to lose, I just, I don’t know I could be completely wrong. I just sat down with him the other day and it’s not like he doesn’t like me personally, I just feel like he kinda’ wants to see me lose. I don’t know what it is, if I remind him of a young Jon Jones, but uh for some reason I feel like he wants me to lose with certain things he says when he’s commentating.”

O’Malley also said, “Commentating the fights is a really hard job and I may be taking it to heart, I may be being a p*ssy.”

DC had a meeting with Dominick Cruz, later joined by Michael Bisping, in which they talked it out and DC expressed his concerns:

I saw what Dom said today so we had a chat. Go to my YouTube channel for full interview. If you can even call it that premiere in 7 minutes. https://t.co/mZDb73DzsK pic.twitter.com/uroLbKKiVW — Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) December 9, 2021

As to Sean O’Malley’s comments, DC posted this on Twitter:

He’s been very respectful so I didn’t quite get that he didn’t tell me. He’s a good dude. I don’t know what vibe I am giving these dudes that they won’t just tell me when they see me what’s going on or their thoughts. I’m open https://t.co/BwmKljRjs6 — Daniel Cormier (@dc_mma) December 12, 2021
