His name is Adrian Favela,He is 23 year old born and raised in holland,mi. He got introduced to MMA back in 2014, He wemt 2-0 in the amatuers but transitioned to bjj shortly after. Jiujitsu is his passion,the mat is his canvas his art. He is a NO-GI competitor, a 4th stripe white belt under 4th degree black belt marcel louzado. His dream is simple, compete, compete, compete, the entire 2017 with his main goal to compete at Adcc trials and advance to the finals.

Q&A Session Between Adrian Vicente Favela and Elite Sports

Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?

Answer: What inspires me to continue training is definitely the brotherhood that comes along with Jiu Jitsu, the unity and being able to express my art on the mat.

Question: How often do you train?

Answer: As of now, I train NO-GI at Westside boxing and MMA. I train around 3 days a week sometimes 4, each session around 2-3 hrs. That doesn’t include the solo drilling and BJJ related strength and conditioning, I train daily.

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer: My goals for this year. I would say to continue to compete as much as my body can take to transition to competing and become more confident and technical in a competitive atmosphere. But also to keep learning this art that much more. I would also like this year to be the year, I earn my blue belt. The next 3 years I’m working to continue evolving, but also to travel around the world, to meet some of my favorite BJJ artists and attend seminars. And 5 years from now, I would love to own and open my very own academy of course.

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer: I have been training overall around 3 years. I started mixed martial arts cage fighting 3 years ago,but didn’t focus on BJJ exclusively until 2016 where, I earned my 4 stripes on my White Belt in 6 months, I moved through the ranks quickly as, I attended class 2 times a day each session lasting 2 hours, 6 days a week for a total of 24 hours a week of BJJ.

Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?

Answer: I Would say what makes a champion in BJJ would be determination, a constant reminder every morning of the goals you want to achieve and do it. To never be afraid of losing, but to learn from your mistakes, learn new things, BJJ is evolving and you have to go in it with an open mind

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer: Most of favorite submissions i seem to use during training would be heel Hooks, knee Bars, toe holds, Ankle locks, Anything to do with legs.

Question: How does a beginner will prepare for the competition? Any advice for beginners?

Answer: Keep up your spirits and confidence. Be focus towards your goals.

Question: What is the meaning of success in your mind?

Answer: Achievements of my desires and planned Goals.

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer: My kids without a doubt inspire me, they're my motivation to keep pushing every day. Athlete wise I would say Ricardo Arona, Andre Galvao, Mario Sperry and Rousimar Palhares are my 4 top artists, I look up to. Their achievements were all met due to hard strenuous training. And to be a world champion you take everything than is thrown at you and push a little harder.

Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?

Answer: My achievements in MMA is going 2-0 in Ammys, I placed 1st in kit division at Naga my very first NO-GI competition back in November of 2016 and 3rd in a more skilled division.

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer: Everyday i bring 2 pairs of fight shorts, just in case, I rip one or tear. I also bring a few Rash Guards, athletic tape, muscle rub (ice hot) my mouth guard, my vale tudos, bccas, creatine, and whey protein of course, not too far out of the ordinary.
