Renzo Gracie Promoted to BJJ Coral Belt

Renzo Gracie, the 3rd generation member of the Gracie Family, is a BJJ and MMA fighter. He was promoted to the 7th-degree Red and Black Coral Belt, by his uncle Rickson Gracie on 18 January 2023. The ceremony was conducted in Abu Dhabi on the podium of ADCC. He is the owner of Renzo Gracie Academy which is today the most famous BJJ academy.

Coral Belt is awarded to those Black Belts who have given 30 years of their lives to BJJ. It is not just a belt, it is a prestigious award for the acknowledgment of Kudos. Renzo Gracie is a Double ADCC Champion. (1998, 2000) He was also inducted to the ADCC Hall of Fame in September 2022. Renzo Gracie is one of those few BJJ coaches who have received Coral Belts. He also competed in the UFC and signed a 6-fights contract. He has an MMA record of 14-7.

Renzo Gracie not only has a flourishing BJJ career but also made a name in MMA. He posted a video of receiving the Coral Belt with a quote by his grandfather, Carlos Gracie, on his social media:

“Be big enough so you can feel unsatisfied, be noble enough so you can feel anger, be strong enough so you can feel fear, and be happy enough so you can feel frustrations.”
