2. Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro’s Biography
Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro, formally known as Pedro Lucas was born on 13th May 2000. He is a young Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Champion. He is a fighter of Campo de Treino Honorio (CT Honorio). He has participated in several fights and made his mark as a Black Belt Champion.
2.1. Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro’s Early Life
Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In his childhood, he liked capoeira, and karate as his hobby during his free time. During his teen years, he was very lazy and careless, so his parents sent him to BJJ classes to bring some discipline into his life. In an interview, he said,
“I gave my parents and teachers a lot of work growing up. This is why they signed me on for jiu-jitsu classes, hoping that the more disciplined environment of martial arts would help tame my wild side.”
2.2. Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro’s First Academy
Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro initiated his practice under the supervision of Villem Coelho of Gracie Barra, which was very famous in the Rio de Janeiro region. Coelho helped Lucas to achieve a Blue belt from the teen belt. When Lucas joined GB, he promised himself that he would work hard to be The Man of the time. In an interview, he talked about his experience at his first academy by saying,
“As a yellow belt I already trained as hard and often as I could, I already had the long-term goal of being ‘The Man’ at the time.“
In 2016, Lucas left this place and started practicing with his father in a garage.
2.3. Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro’s Selection at Atos Teams
Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro started presenting the team of Honorio Filho in local competitions, as Lucas was a student of Filho. In this way, he became familiar with the CT Honorio squad. In the meantime, the leaders of Atos teams, Davi Ramos and Alexandre Carreira approached Lucas and asked him to join their team as a member. Lucas accepted this offer. Lucas was very happy to join the team because these two coaches were the best coaches of that time, in an interview Lucas said,
“Coach Carrera invited me to be part of the team. I met Ramos and immediately felt at home, that guy has the heart of a mother, he is incredible. Sharing the mats with Davi Ramos and Ary Farias is incredible. They have done it all, they have stepped on the mats I also hope to step on one day. Accomplished what I dream of accomplishing.”
2.4. Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro’s routine
Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro started practicing Jiu-Jitsu in his teens. At first with Villem Coelho, then with his father in a garage, and lastly with Atos teams supervised by Davi Ramos and Alexandre Carreira. During all these years he was very consistent, hardworking, and took good care of his health. After joining the Atos Team, Lucas received the best guidance from the coaches and many other opportunities that otherwise would not be possible. Lucas said in an interview,
“Today I am affiliated with a great team, I am conquering important sponsorships, and connecting with people who want to invest in me. My time is coming, I am sure“.
Now Lucas and his father, Rodrigo Ribeiro give BJJ classes to students, and this academy is known as Garage Jiu-Jitsu. This palace is now shifted to Rua Araguaia of Rio de Janeiro and it is a very hardworking work group.
2.5. Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro’s Achievements
Pedro Lucas Soares Ribeiro became famous globally when he first won the Copa Podio Heavyweight Grand Prix competition in 2021. This was a very famous fight and Lucas won his first Brown Belt by defeating several famous Black Belt Champions. Later, Lucas achieved 1st position in the 2023 Brazilian National and 2021 Copa Podio Competition.
2.6. Pedro Lucas Black Belt Promotion
After ten years of extreme training and hard work, Pedro Lucas was finally promoted to the Black belt category on February 16, 2022, and received his medal from the hand of his coach, Honorio Filho. Soon after that, Pedro Lucas participated in the Rio Fall Open Competition and secured his gold medal in the Super heavyweight division. In an interview, he said,
“These circumstances were painful to deal with for a long time, I have to believe God has a plan for me and lay my trust in his plan“.
