A New Addition to the Art of Jiu-Jitsu - Mayssa Bastos

Mayssa Bastos who is a BJJ Black Belt under Julio Cesar is a three times World Champion securing multiple titles and medals in the Gi and No-Gi divisions along the way. She was promoted to Black Belt in 2018 and since then she has been representing the Grappling fight Team (GF Team) on the national and international level.

Recently, Mayssa Bastos announced that she is moving to Art of Jiu-Jitsu which is led by the Mendes brothers, Rafael and Guilherme Mendes. Under the GF Team banner, Bastos has won many championships. She became the IBJJF World Champion three times, in 2019, 2021 and 2022. She also competed in the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship in 2018 and 2021.

Mayssa Bastos is one of the most decorated lightweight fighters in the BJJ world. And it is no wonder that she wants to train at the Art of Jiu-Jitsu. The Mendes brothers have earned this reputation, where World Champions are themselves choosing to join this prestigious BJJ academy.

Since the foundation of Art of Jiu-Jitsu, in 2012, the academy has been creating warriors in the sport and topping over the IBJJF charters. The famous Ruotolo brothers, Tye and Kade, and the Musumeci siblings, Mikey and Tammi once belonged to AOJ.

The Mendes brothers took to their instagram and welcomed the youngest BJJ elite grappler.

“I would like to officially welcome the 3X black belt world champion Mayssa Bastos to the team. Mayssa has been training in Jiu-Jitsu since she was 11 years old and today she is one of the most consistent and accomplished athletes in the sport.”
