2. Ruan Marques De Oliveira’s Biography
Ruan Marques De Oliveira is a top Black Belt BJJ fighter associated with Soul Fighters under the influence of coaches, Muzio de Angelis and Leandro Escobar. He made his name when he was a Brown Belt Champion. He won many medals in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, the World’s BJJ Championships, and the International Open Championships.
2.1. Ruan Marques De Oliveira’s Childhood
Ruan Marques De Oliveira was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on June 25, 1992. From a very young age, he was fond of sports. When he was seven years old, he loved Capoeira; at age 10, he played Judo. But he was not consistent in either game.
2.2. Ruan Marques De Oliveira’s interest in BJJ
In his childhood, Oliveira played many games for the sake of fun but he got interested in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 13. One afternoon Oliveira’s father's computer broke down and called his friend to come and help him fix the computer. His father’s friend who was a student of Jiu-Jitsu and was on his way to practice, came and helped his father to fix the computer. Oliveira was so interested in his Brown Belt which was wrapped around him, that he asked him if he could take him to watch the class.
2.3. Ruan Marques De Oliveira’s First Academy
Oliveira went with his father’s friend to watch a class of Jis-Jitsu at Gavea Gym Academy. After attending this class he decided to become a BJJ fighter. On the very next Monday, he got himself signed up for the classes and started practicing Jiu-Jitsu at the same Academy, Gavea Gym. Igor Silva was the first instructor of Oliveira at this academy. Soon after him, Muzio de Angelis took charge and started training Oliveira for this game. It was all because of him that Oliveira got his Brown Belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
2.4. Ruan Marques De Oliveira’s Career Struggle
Oliveira worked very hard at the Gavea Academy and became good in many skills. However, he finds himself in the thought that he should train at some more competitive place to make his name in the BJJ World. Oliveira started training with Itallo Vilardo to shape his strength and sharpen his grappling skills. During this time, he met Antelante and they both became friends. Antelante asked Oliveira to come and train at Soul Fighters for a day.
2.5. Ruan Marques De Oliveira’s Journey at Soul Fighters
Oliveira went for a demo class at the Soul Fighters Academy and hardly survived a day there. It was very difficult for Oliveira to fight and train with such as competitive team. Soon he realized that he needed to switch academies to train better. For one year Oliveira continued his training at both places, Gavera Academy and Soul Fighter.
After one year Oliveira’s coach advised him to switch his academy. Oliveira then started training at the Soul Fighters Academy under the influence of coach, Leandro Tatu Escobar. Oliveira worked on his grappling skills with coach Escobar.
2.6. Ruan Marques De Oliveira’s Promotion Towards Black Belt
Due to the combined work and efforts of Coaches, Angelis and Escobar, Oliveira won many medals at the International Jiu-Jitsu Championships and received Brown Belts.
On the 4th of July 2015, Oliveira was promoted to the Black Belt Category after getting second position at the IBJJF World Championship. He received his medal from the hands of his both coaches Angelis and Escobar.

In the Black Belt Light Heavy Weight Competition of 2016, the match was between Ruan Marques De Oliveira and Wagner Muniz where Oliveira brilliantly defeated the opponent by applying several guards and submission and secured 26 vs 2 points. In the end, Oliveira closed the match by applying Armbar submission and won it.
