Narcos Star Wagner Moura Promoted to Brown Belt in BJJ

Wagner Maniçoba de Moura, a famous and highly talented Brazilian actor, has just announced his promotion to brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Wagner earned the brown belt under the supervision of legendary BJJ instructor Rigan Machado, who is a renowned red and white coral belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Wagner the BJJ brown belt rank after several years of hard work.


As a Brazilian native, Wagner started his initial acting career in Brazil and became famous in Brazilian theater and cinema. Then in 2007, he first appeared in the Hollywood industry by making his Hollywood debut in the Brazilian film ‘Elite Squad’ and amazed the entire Hollywood community with his incredible role as Captain Roberto Nascimento.


Wagner got the chance to depict this character two times through its sequel. Then, in 2015, he made his Netflix debut with the unforgettable role of Pablo Escobar. This film became a major source in raising his fan following. In 2016, his name was nominated for a Golden Globe Awards as the best actor in a TV series. Wagner is the first-ever Brazilian actor to achieve this fame and recognition in 14 years. After becoming a star, Wagner also built his career as a director and directed two episodes in the third season of Narcos: Mexico. As a director, he released his first film in the Brazilian cinemas, named Marighella.


Although Wagner was completely immersed in his acting career, he still managed to take part in both jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai. Wagner amazingly showcased his exceptional grappling skills and has recently been promoted to jiu-jitsu brown belt. Among multiple famous actors, Wagner is the one who has spent the greatest amount of time sparring on BJJ mats.


Rigan Machado recently announced Wagner’s promotion to BJJ brown belt in a recent post to his official Instagram account.
