Biography

My name is Guilherme Enzo Taya Nakanishi, I’m 21, I start to training Bjj when I was 5 or 6 years old, now I'm purple belt under the professor Eduardo Almendra and training at Legacy BJJ in Australia, Sydney. Jiu-jítsu for me is my life, actually is my way of life! I'm competing the biggest competitions in Australia and in Brazil, I fought in ADCC, PanPacs, states and nationals competitions and my goal is the World Championship.

Question: What will you suggest to the newcomers?

Answer: Martial arts is more than just a sport or exercise, it’s a way of life. As soon as you put a Gi your life will completely change.

Question: What does it mean for you to be a fighter?

Answer: Be a fighter is the base for my whole life, there is where I can get discipline, loyalty, honor, respect and all the rest essencial to be a good person.

Question: What are the essential things for the training?

Answer: The essencial thing to training is known your own limit. Have a good diet and rest. We are what we eat and what we do.

Question: What separates you from every other fighter in your division?

Answer: Nothing, me and the other fighter in my division are all looking forward and training to be the best.

Question: What is the meaning of success in your mind?

Answer: Happiness and freedom is the most success in my life.

Question: With whom you would like to fight, and why?

Answer: Anyone, every fight it’s a challenge.

Question: Is there any difference b/w your common days’ diet and during competition training diet?

Answer: We are training all year to be ready to compete at anytime, but when the competition getting closer I use to change my diet and training a bit harder to get ready to fight. Some times I have to cut weight, some times I have to gain some, it’s always different.

Question: How does a beginner will prepare for the competition? Any advice for beginners?

Answer: The beginner must do a really good diet and training hard as a professional respecting the limits of the body but the most important thing is what is happening is their minds, the secret is work the mindset to not get nervous.

Question: How is it helpful to have the information about your competitor?

Answer: Study the opponent is aways a good exercise to improve the game.

Question: Is the martial arts necessary for a common person? How?

Answer: Common person don’t do martial arts, as soon as you start do any martial art you are not common anymore.

Question: How do martial arts help to build a leader?

Answer: A martial art teach you how to be humble, patient, loyal, honest, respectful and etc. all this help you to be a good person and when you are a good person people will start respect you and you naturally will be a leader.

Question: What would be your dream fight?

Answer: Definitely the Worlds IBJJF.

Question: Do you have any advice for your competitors?

Answer: Never give up. Every day we are better the yesterday.

Question: How much importance has the sports gear in any competition?

Answer: The sports gear is essencial to have a good performance in the preparation to compete and at the competition.

Question: What should we learn from the legends /or from the seniors? Who is your inspiration?

Answer: My inspiration are the Mendes and Miyao Brothers. We should learn all the discipline and motivation to be a good fighter with them, they are example of person and fighter.
