Biography

His earliest stories comes from when he was 3 years old. He was born in Mexico and back then they only had 3 TV channels. One of the channels always played chuck Norris, jean Claude Vandamme and Sylvester Stallone movies. He would go around with a cloth tied around his head saying he was a ninja, or that he was Rambo. When he was 5 he moved to U.S.A and at 7 years old he found his first Kung Fu school. He studied martial arts until he was 10 or 11.

And he dropped out as a brown belt. He got into a lot of trouble since he didn’t have martial arts to keep him busy anymore and his mother was never home due to working 2 jobs. He started hanging out with gangs and getting into street fights. He lost every street fight he was ever in. At 14 he landed himself in jail due to fighting and getting arrested with the gangs. When he was in jail his girlfriend called him to tell she was pregnant. At 14 years old you don’t know what to do in that situation. You just want to be young and hang out with buddies. But since his father abandoned his mother and his little siblings, He knew he couldn’t abandon his little baby. So, He manned up and changed his life.

He left his friends and old habits and started working full time jobs. He continued his high-school to graduate and when he was 15 he broke up with his girlfriend and he was really depressed, his probation officer enrolled him in kick-boxing lessons to keep him busy and he fell in love. He started training 3 hours a day and soon he started fighting in the ring. He also competed in Jiu Jitsu and he won many tournaments.

At 20, he started MMA because he felt boxing was a waste of time since he didn't train boxing every day. He was too good at Jiu Jitsu not to be using it in his fights. He is now 23 years old, his daughter is 7. As an amateur his record is 5-3 due to his fighting the best competition in his area at any weight they want. He will be professional MMA fighter in February of 2018. And he will be going pro as a 5x MMA champion. When he goes pro. He will only be fighting at 125 lbs.

Question:What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?

Answer: The inspiration came from Cain Velasquez and how hard he works for his family. When I won my first title I took the fight against the “best” fighter in Chicago at the time. I took the fight on 7 days’ notice and I knocked him out in 43 seconds. It made me realize I have a future in this sport.

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer: Now more than ever my daughter and family inspire me. Every time I win their dreams grow as well!

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer: Goals for this year will be to remain undefeated. In 3 years I want a contract with Bellator. And by 5 years I want to be financially stable and giving back to those who helped me get to where I am today. 5 years from now I want to be training full time and fighting for Bellator championship

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer: Total I have been training 13 years and fighting almost 10 years.

Question: How often do you train?

Answer: I train everyday 2-3 times a day. No days off. It’s fun and enjoyable to me.

Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?

Answer: Yes, I have gotten many opportunities to be interviewed. I’ve gotten to go to almost all fight shows for free. I am a 4x MMA champion. And I have a list of sponsors who support me. I have been able to show my family that anything is possible if you truly believe in yourself and have faith in God

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer: Either my armbar or guillotine choke.

Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?

Answer: Commitment. Hard work and dedication. You need to be able to be comfortable being uncomfortable.

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer: Always have boxing gloves and hand wraps. I always keep a pair of Shin Pads because, I spar everywhere outside or inside. I also keep a $20 bill for emergencies and some food. I only use my Jiu Jitsu GIs on Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays. But, I always use boxing gloves and MMA gloves.
