Biography

American Professional Boxer, Kickboxer, Mixed Martial Arts, and Jiu Jitsu competitor. He began training in 2002 in traditional martial arts after Wrestling since he was 11. He started competing in Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai in 2006 and Boxing in 2010 under the tutelage of Steve Mestas. He holds a purple belt after 11 years in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Professor Joaquin Baca. He is Coached in Muay Thai by Master Don “The Dragon” Lee and in Wrestling by Mike Laurita. Born and raised in Colorado.

Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?

Answer: I love Martial Arts and being an athlete. All of my arts help me to improve one another which in turn helps me improve in competition. I feel competing is the best way to test the skills and techniques that I teach my students. I love breaking barriers in my training and reaching new goals.

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer: Not just one person inspires me, I’m a collector of inspiration. I look up to different people for different reasons, I’m inspired by people everyday.

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer: My goal in a year is to have a Professional title, in 3 years I plan to be on a Top Rank Boxing card, and in 5 years a WBC Champion.

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer: 20 years wrestling and 15 training in martial arts

Question: How often do you train?

Answer: I train at least twice a day 6-7 day a week

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer: Left straight to the body right overhand in Boxing Triangle in MMA

Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?

Answer: Consistency

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer: I always carry EVERYTHING in my bag! When you compete in so many combat sports you never know what the day will bring. I always have a Gi, Boxing gloves, MMA gloves, shin guards, belly pad, headgear, wraps, elbow/knee pads, and of course a mouth guard!
