Biography

Bar “El Oso” Dekel is 11 years old, from Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.He has been training BJJ for 4 years now. He trains at least 4 days a week, he won 9 gold medals and 1 silver medal which he is really proud of, he gwon that one when he went up two age and weight categories. Super proud to be joining the Elite team. Growing with 2 brothers that train, might as well change their house floor with mats. In between training Bar likes to surf, skate, spearfish and enjoy the jungle life of Costa Rica..

Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?

Answer:: the amount of dedication and discipline, fighters have. The strong mental game, cutting weight..fighters are superheroes.

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer::I get inspired a lot by my grandparents they absolutely rock! Both are 73 years old and they are more active and full of energy then most people. I like to watch Conner Mcgregor from the UFC, when he sets his mind on something, he makes it happend.

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer::I want to compete bigger tournaments. Travel more, participate in seminars, drill technique to perfection and cross my own limits.

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer:: 4 years

Question: How often do you train?

Answer:: At least 4 days a week.

Question:What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sport?

Answer:: Willpower, dedication and supportive environment

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer:: My birth name is Bar, it’s only natural I’ll go for the arm-BAR but I must add that I love triangles too

Question: Do you have any advice for your competitors?

Answer:: it’s all about keep on going and rise when you fall. Never give up.

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer::water bottle, Gi, No-Gi, belt, mouth guard, my watch, extra clothes for after the class., Elite Belt, Tape, Knee Brace
