Biography

I am from San Diego I started training jiujitsu in 1996 with Professor Fabio Santos. Since 2010 I have trained with Professor Regis Lebre at Gracie Humaita San Diego. I am now an assistant instructor and a 2nd degree black belt under Regis Lebre.

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer: In the past I was inspired by Royce Gracie and Rickson Gracie. But now I am inspired more by my current professor because he has taught me that you can be a good instructor and still be at a high-level in competition.

Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?

Answer: I think what inspires me most about BJJ is the physical aspect and the competitive as well also living a healthy lifestyle.

Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?

Answer: I won a lot of tournaments in the blue purple and brown belt ranks but I would like to start accumulating more championships in the black belt division.

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer: I have been training for 21 years

Question: How often do you train?

Answer: It depends are usually train twice a day and either include a surfing session or a strength and conditioning session.

Question: How do bJJ help to build a leader?

Answer: It helps us to adapt following traits which is good for leadership skills: Dynamic thinker, patient trainer, build confidence

Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?

Answer: I think what it takes to be a champion in the sport is 100% dedication to where most of your lifestyle revolves around jujitsu.

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer: I think it would depend on what position I’m in but I’ve always liked guillotine choke.

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer: Within the next five years I look forward to competing and participating in the biggest tournaments in jujitsu. I am also planning on traveling a lot within the next five years.

Question: Who is your favorite legendary fighter?

Answer: Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali.

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer: I usually keep 2 Jiu Jitsu Elite GIs and No-GI gear everyday. I also take my supplements in my bag to keep up on them and wrestling shoes.
