Biography

I have been practicing Martial Arts for over 8 years. I am a first degree Black Belt. Martial Arts has been a way for me to learn more about myself. Before Martial arts I have spent 7 years playing tennis and yoga. I use the skills from both sports to improve my current practice. From my experience Martial Arts Is a male dominated sport. Being that I am not only a young woman but a woman of color I feel it is important to practice. I do not practice for myself anymore, I practice to show other young girls and women of colors that they are able to do it too.

Question: What inspires you about Tae Kwan Do?

Answer: Seeing how the art from transforms people Physically, mentally and emotionally.

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer: I am inspired by everyone that steps through the doors to come to practice because we are all battling life and personal issues. Despite what they are going through they make it their mission to come to practice and better themselves.

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer: My goal is to become faster, stronger, happier and to be the best version of myself.

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer: I have been practicing Martial Arts for a little over 5 years.

Question: How often do you train?

Answer: 2 to 3 days a week.

Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?

Answer: I have been three-time grand champion and five-time first place champion.

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer: I have a strong round house kick

Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?

Answer: I believe the moment you put effort into Amy sport you are already a champion.

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer: I normally have tights, my GI  and my shake.
