Q&A Session Between Chi Trystin Sheibley and Elite Sports
Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?
Answer: I absolutely love the fact that it isn’t just you against your opponent but rather you against yourself. It is very much mind over matter when it comes to cutting weight or even during a fight camp. And even more so when you step foot in the cage. When it comes down to it, you are your worst enemy. So, I love the challenge!
Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?
Answer: My coaches and training partners all have inspired me in one way or another. What we do and how we train is not easy. The fact that my coaches and training partners are there in the gym everyday regardless of how busy or how tired is what inspires me. There are people out there worse off then me, and still make no excuses!
Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?
Answer: In the next 3-5 yrs I would love to be fighting in Invicta or Bellator.
Question: How long have you been training?
Answer: 4 yrs
Question: How often do you train?
Answer: I train 5 days a week, 4 hrs a day in MMA and train 6 days out of the week outside of that in just a local gym lifting weights or taking different fitness classes. I also try to run about 5 miles a day
Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?
Answer: I have received 7 medals in different grappling competitions as well as won a NAGA belt in the expert division.
Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?
Answer: If I told you then what fun would that be! LOL
Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?
Answer: MENTAL STRENGTH AND DEDICATION!!
Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?
Answer: The items that I always have are boxing gloves, shin guards, MMA gloves and mouthguard, because you always have to be ready to spar LOL. Most of the time I will have other items like deodorant, body spray, gear cleaner, extra clothes and my training mask if I will be running.
