Lacey “THE LADIE” Schuckman
American Professional Boxer, Kickboxer, Mixed Martial Arts, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor from Denver, Colorado. She began training in martial arts in 2004 and started competing in Muay Thai and MMA in 2006 and turned Professional in 2009. She has competed in MMA under the Strikeforce, Ring of Fire, Hook N' Shoot, and Invicta Fighting Championships banners. She is an undefeated Professional Boxer and also competes in submission only Professional Jiu Jitsu matches and is looking forward to her first Professional Muay Thai match.
Q&A Session Between Lacey Schuckman and Elite Sports
Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?
Answer: I enjoy the growth it requires. You have to grow in training, you have to grow from competing, you have to grow in life! Growing doesn’t always feel good and developing the mental fortitude and drive to improve is my favorite challenge. I love the feeling of stepping out of the ring or cage, or stepping of the mat after really testing yourself and knowing you are a different human with a new focus. It’ll change your outlook on every minute detail of life.
Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?
Answer: My husband Randall is a HUGE inspiration in my life. I know it sounds corney but he is constantly challenging himself to achieve new goals and it keeps me hungry! He is so dedicated to his craft and Coaching others, I wish I could bottle it.
Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?
Answer: I don’t look at setting future goals, I focus on today. I want to work so hard everyday that the blessings of title belt, contracts, opportunities just happen. I want to be world champion in multiple combat and I know that, that goal is only achievable through hard work and dedication!

Answer: Since 2004

Answer: 2x daily 6-7days a week

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?
Answer: I love the Guillotine!
Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?
Answer: There’s no special pill for hard work. Give 110% every day and don’t get used by promoters. Be business savvy as well as highly skilled.
Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?
Answer: I have to keep a little bit of everything in my bag, sometimes you get opportunities to train with certain people or random times, you have to be prepared. I carry an extra set of leggings and a rash guard and my gi. I always have MMA and Boxing Gloves, shinguards, mouthguard, and headgear. I have my jumprope, a brush and some hairties just to look slightly attractive after killing it on the mat!
