James "The Hurricane" Rumley
James E Rumley III, also known as ‘The Hurricane,’ was born out of Albuquerque New Mexico, January 13, 1993. Constantly traveling at a young age he his family finally settled in Bassett, Va, where he was raised. James started training in mixed martial arts at the age of eighteen, with Team Rockbottom in Martinsville, Va under the tutelage of Jomo Lucas.
"The Hurricanes" six-year background of training in mixed martial arts includes Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jujitsu, Wrestling, and Wing Chung. He finshed his amateur career with a record of 8-5 with 3 lightweight championships which included the South Carolina ISKA Lightweight State Championship, the Battle in the South Lightweight Championship and the Elite Warrior Challenge Lightweight Championship. He is now a pro mixed martial artist with a record of 4-4 and currently holds the Fire and Ice Pro Lightweight Championship.
With a current career as a correctional officer out of Salem, VA, he has been ambitious with the passion of the sport. James has been constantly traveling for training and fights with an ultimate goal to fight in BELLATOR or the UFC, and to one-day hold a world title and be known as one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world.

Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?
Answer: MMA inspires me because you never can master MMA. There always is something you can improve in to make you a better Mixed Martial Artists. I love the adrenaline and the competition. Overall MMA builds character and teaches you great discipline.
Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?
Answer: This year I would like to finish with a winning streak and more learning experience. 3 years from now, I would love to be in UFC or BELLATOR going for a shot for the title living my dream. 5 years from now, I want to be known as one of the best pound for pound fighters in my weight class.
Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?
Answer: The person who inspires me is my father. Just growing up watching my father work so hard inspired me to become the best man I can be, he also told me to never give up on anything I love to do. He always told me if I wanted something bad enough hard work would get me there.
Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?
Answer: It takes hard work dedication to become a great champion in everything you do in training and your daily life. It is a physical sport but most of this sport is 80% mental.
Question: How often do you train?
Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?
Answer: ? I was a three-time Amy champion in 3 different states NC, SC, and VA. Then turned pro, now I am a pro champion in VA.

Answer: 6 Years
Question: How do martial arts help to build a leader
Answer: It teaches you how to contrl nerves, Discipline and help you in building your character
Question: What would be your dream fight?
Answer: Title shot at UFC or Bellator
Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?
Answer: No, I do not have a go to finishing move in a fight whatever I see I take that opportunity and then I execute on it.
Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?
Answer: I bring my Elite Boxing Gloves, shin guards, mouthpiece, Elite Headgear and my wraps. Also training clothes to the gym. However, yes, on different days I will bring different gear for jujitsu, Muay-Thai, boxing, and wrestling nights they are all different stuff I bring for different days.
