Q&A Session Between Patrick Moran and Elite Sports

Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?

Answer: The most inspiring thing to me about BJJ is the growth I see in my students. The best moment for an instructor is teaching a student a new move, then watching them pull it off in training.

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer: My daughters inspire me. They make me want to be a better man every day, and that permeates every part of my life, from my work to jiu jitsu.

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer: I just received my brown belt so I would like to grow into that and start competing against brown and black belts. In the next 3 years, I hope to help my teammates and students gain success in MMA and high-level grappling competition.

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer: 8 Years

Question: How often do you train?

Answer: 4-5 times per week

Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?

Answer:
- 2016 MMAC Purple Belt Heavy Weight Champ
- 2015 MMAC No Gi Expert Division Heavy Weight Champ
- 2014 IBJJF Miami Open Blue Belt Heavy Weight Champ

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer: S-Mount Armbar

Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?

Answer: Commitment and drive

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer: I always keep some shoes and socks to go for a run, some bag gloves to train BJJ with striking, a mouthpiece, some tape and my GI or No-GI gear. I am also a big believer of keeping a training journal and making notes about my training. My notebook is always in my bag.
