Biography

His name is George Stephens. He is 14-year-old. He has trained martial arts for over ten years and started with Tae Kwon Do and he achieved his black belt in it. Then he moved onto MMA (Muay Thai, kali, basic grappling, and wing Chun) and he achieved his junior black belt in that. Then he found jiu jitsu and have stuck with it since he started. He has been doing it for 3 years now and he is a green belt. He competes in tournaments regularly and bring home mostly gold. He have 18 medals and 13 of them being gold. He has won Tennessee state championship and SC state championship twice and won multiple regular New Breed tournaments.

Q&A Session Between George Stephens and Elite Sports

Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?

Answer: I love the sport and I love the competition inside the sport.

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer: Rafael Rosendo Dos Santos. my head instructor, as he pushes us to be the best athlete we can be. Also he is an inspiration because he still competes himself.

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer: To win as many tournaments as possible. Also when I turn 16 and allowed to achieve my blue belt.

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer: Just over 3 years. (BJJ) 10 years plus in martial arts. Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. Also trained in Muay Thai, Kali and Wing Chun.

Question: How often do you train?

Answer: I train anywhere between 5 to 6 days a week and as much as 15 hours a week, drilling technique and live rolling. Also 2 days a week I take a strength and conditioning classes

Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?

Answer: Placing in every tournament I have competed in, 18 medals and 13 of those are Gold!

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer: My favorite move is Arm bar

Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?

Answer: Dedication to your training, even when maybe you want a night off. Drilling and working those moves that hep you be the best you can be. Staying Humble!!!!

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer: Always a couple of rash guards MMA shorts, Elite Gi, towel, medical tape for those scuffs and scrapes. Water and snacks to keep me fueled up after a workout.
