Q&A Session Between George Oiler and Elite Sports


Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?

Answer: What inspires me and drives me to continue training daily is the fact that Jiu-Jitsu in infinant. With that what I mean is there is so much knowledge and information that it's impossible to know everything that there is to know about Jiu-Jitsu.

Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?

Answer: I have won a ton of NAGA divisions over the years from white belt through brown belt. I beat UFC vet Wes Sims in an mma fight in August of 2016 with an armbar at 2:15 of the first round, then turned around the next weekend and won the WVGO West Virginia State Championships Brown Belt absolute winning all matches by submission in under 3 minutes. I was promoted to Black Belt by Professor Jorge Gurgel Oct 22, 2016. 3 weeks later I won the AGC Black belt open at the Ohio State Championships

Question: How long have you been training?

Answer: 13 years

Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?

Answer: My goals for this year are to become active in these new pro submissions only series that are popping up everywhere. And for 3 years, Win an IBJJF Masters worlds championship. And for 5 years, Still be training and competing actively!

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?

Answer: My students inspire me. Their successes, their failures all keep me goal driven and their success means as much to me as any of the successes I have had in BJJ and MMA.

Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?

Answer: Bread-cutter choke

Question: How often do you train?

Answer: Nearly every day and some days twice a day!

Question: What will you suggest to the newcomers?

Answer: Be determine to achieve your goals regardless of getting fail.

Answer: Persistence and dedication

Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?

Answer: My Elite Gi, Rashguard, No-GI shorts, t-shirt.
