Biography
Garrett is ranked as a purple belt in Brazilian Jui Jitsu in Phoenix Arizona at Cannon BJJ and has been training for 12 years.
Garrett enjoys training and competing in BJJ and has been in approximately 600 matches between wrestling, jiu-jitsu, and judo.
After grappling his whole life between jiu-jitsu, wrestling and judo Garrett is working on getting his black belt so he can open his own gym.
Garrett is currently the assistant instructor at Cannon BJJ.
Garrett says jiu-jitsu has become a staple in his life because of the impact it has had on him and those around him. "Jiu-jitsu is one of those things you don't learn overnight it takes more than a lifetime".

Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?
Answer: My dad, becaue he's always pushing me to do my best.
Question: What inspires you about BJJ?
Answer: Training to be my best, and being a positive role model for the kids I teach.
Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?
Answer: My goals for the next year are to win a national title, a world title. for the next 3 years, i would like to have my brown belt, win the pan ams, and european open. In the next five years i would like to earn my black belt, open my own gym, and win black belt worlds.
Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?
Answer: As much as it takes hardwork skill and cardio it takes the heart of a lion and the ability to overcomeadversiy during a match and be a risktaker.
Question: How often do you train?
Answer: Six days a week.
Question: How long have you been training?
Answer: I have been training for 12 years.
Question: Do you have any advice for your competitors?
Answer: Keep focused to achieve your goal unless you achieve it.
Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?
Answer: Placed fourth at kids worlds, 2nd at ibjjf nationals, and 6th at pan ams.
Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?
Answer: Yes, i like gi chokees and kimuras.
Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?
Answer: Yes, I tend to use a different rashguard and fight shorts and gi everyday in my gym bag and i usually keep an extra pair of shorts and shirt in my bag along with an extra belt i currently use a nike bag.
