Brandon William McBride
Brandon McBride lives in the Charlotte, NC area. He's a gray belt under Lucas Lepri of Alliance Charlotte. Brandon's been training and competing for a little over a year. He's competed and won gold in all NAGA, US Grappling and NewBreed tournaments for the skill/weight class he was in. Other than BJJ, Brandon loves to play soccer and Chess, and is consistently on the A-B honor roll. Brandon is very fortunate to have this opportunity to represent Elite Sports and looks forward to improving his BJJ and representing Elite Sports!
Q&A Session Between Brandon William McBride and Elite Sports
Question: What inspires you about BJJ? MMA?
Answer: What inspires me about BJJ is that I'm always learning new techniques to make me a better competitor. I really enjoy new challenges and I love competing!
Question: Who inspires you, past or present? Why do they inspire you?
Answer: Lucas Lepri inspires me. He's the best and I admire all his hard work to get to wear he is today.
Question: What are your goals for this year? Next 3 years? Next 5 years?
Answer: My goals for now and forever are to always do my best, keep learning, and keep winning.
Question: How long have you been training?
Answer: I have been training for a little over a year.
Question: How often do you train?
Answer: I try to go 4 times every week, but sometimes its only 2 or 3 times depending on soccer and school.
Question: Any major accomplishments you’ve been able to achieve in that time?
Answer: I've placed first in all Gi and No-Gi tournaments in my weight/skill bracket. The times I went up a skill level or weight class, I placed 2nd.
Question: Do you have a go-to finishing move?
Answer: I use the arm-bar a lot, but I really like the baseball choke. I've been working to incorporate the baseball and other lapel chokes into my game.
Question: What do you think it takes to be a champion in your sports?
Answer: To be a champion you have to have respect for yourself and others. You have to always do your best. You have to use good technique and be consistent. These are all things my coaches teach us.
Question: What sort of gear do you usually keep in your gym bag before hitting the gym? Do you have different items for specific days?
Answer: On training days, I always have my Rashguard, Gi, and Belt. I also have a mouth guard and water. On tournament days I take extra everything, plus snacks!
